How to Do Temple Baptisms as a Family

If you would like to go to the baptistry as a family, here are a few helpful "How To" facts:

1-How do I start?
Please call the Dallas Temple at (972) 991-1273 to request an appointment.  You may have to leave a message but they are great about calling back and finding you a time to attend!

2-When can I take my family?
SATURDAYS--Saturdays get very busy, so please try to schedule a week in advance.  They will allow 4 to 5 baptisms per person on a Saturday because the lines get long.  The great secret is that the baptistry opens at 6:30 a.m. and is usually not as busy until 7am.

WEEKDAYS DURING THE DAY--The advantage of daytimes is that you can often do more family file names per person since it's not as busy.  I have done as many as 24 names at a time.  The best hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m..

WALK-INS--You can walk in to the temple without a reservation, but you will most likely have to wait up to an hour.  This is because our temple serves 250 wards and branches (!) in its district, and they try to allow each unit to bring their youth on a temple trip twice a year.

3-What if I don't have family file names to bring?
The temple will allow youth or adults to do up to 3 baptisms if they don't bring family names.

4-What should I bring?
The baptistry provides all clothing for those who will get wet, including towels.  They also provide temple workers, although they appreciate it if you can bring a priesthood holder with your group.  So just bring your temple recommends and any family file names you want to be baptized for.

5-Helpful hint:  The Dallas Temple will be closed in 2019 from Oct 1 to Nov 12.  Try visiting another temple with your family and experiencing the same spirit in different locations.  It's a good idea to make sure the temple is open on the dates you will be visiting.  The other temples near us are:
                Oklahoma City--3 hours away
                         Houston--4 1/2 hours away
                 San Antonio--5 hours away
                 Lubbock--5 hours away
