Step 7: Getting Names Ready for the Temple
It may seem scary to print out your own cards to take to the temple, but let me reassure you. If you have done your research and you know the dates and places are as accurate as you can make them based on the documents you have found, you don't need to worry about "making a mistake." As you go through the following steps, the name will be checked by the system to make sure it is temple ready and you can feel confident in going ahead and printing out a card. So here we go.
Step 1: There are a couple of ways to know if a person is ready for their ordinances to be performed. First is to click on their name and look at the introductory box that opens up.

Notice the that the color of the boxes in the Temple row are colored a light green. Green means "GO!" You may request the right to perform these ordinances! Just click on "Temple" and it will take you to the requesting window.
You can also access a person's temple information by clicking on "Ordinances" on the tabs at the top of their record.

Step 2: You may now get the name ready for the temple by clicking on "Request."

Step 3: Choose which ordinances you would like to perform and click the box next to them. (Generally, you request all ordinances at this time, so that's the default that opens up. Again, click on "Request."

Step 4: The database will now run, ensuring that this person has no duplicates in the system. If a duplicate is found, please refer to the blog post #8 entitled "Merging Duplicates" for instructions on what to do. When no duplicate is found, a window will open up, outlining the Church policy on the appropriate way to request ordinances. You should read through this and then click "Accept."
Congratulations!! You have requested this person and can print their card to take to the temple. You will notice that the boxes have now changed from green to yellow. This means the ordinances are requested but not printed. Once you print the cards, the boxes will turn a dark green color. From this screen, you may also choose to share names with the temple by clicking on "Share," which will then turn the boxes to a red color. Here is the legend that explains what each abbreviation and color stands for:
